When Emperor Lucan Sauvage of Vahrenhall meets the fiery princess Adeline of the neighbouring kingdom of Olyndria, he intends against all the forces known to humanity to make her his. When he requests for her hand, however, she is already betrothed to the duke of the smaller Cardell Fort of the Kingdom of Corvalon. This does not sit well with Lucan, who is used to getting everything, by amity or by blood, and in a fit of rage, he sends a war troop to conquer Olyndria. After conquering Olyndria and handicapping Corvalon in one of the biggest m******e of the middle ages, he brings back Adeline, by the end of his bloodied sword, taking her to be his prisoner, and forced wife. But what if Adeline is just as stone cold and refuses to yield? What if only Adeline can tame a monster?

Lucan sucked in a deep breath as he waited in front of the altar, his chest heaving hard. He looked around, his lips parting. Most of the people in attendance were the kings and princes from other kingdoms, but he could identify a few friends he had made along the way.
