Wrong place, wrong time.

Seems to be the story of my life.

A kid, fresh out of foster care, on the streets. Alone. Getting by, sleeping on this mattress behind one of my favorite bakeries: The Ganglovich Palace. He started by giving me free pastries and food, assuming I was just some greedy kid. Truth be told, I was, especially for what he made. I was around so much, he even started teaching me how to bake. How to cook. I quickly became one of his, and it was a feeling I had never experienced before.

He hadn't found out I was homeless until he caught me that night, laying on that mattress, boy, he just about had a heart attack. That's when he and his wife took me in. Let me stay in one of their houses away from the city. They gave me a job making just enough to keep up the utilities on the place.

And now I'm here. After one bad night, a knife, and a dead man, I was in jail. In the most uncomfortable position. Falling in love and falling apart at the same time. Getting used to this confined world. Learning how to manipulate the system, using what I got to get what I want. Trying to change the things I hate about myself and this place.

What else am I supposed to do?
