At eighteen years old, Becca-known as Becs to the few people she trusted - had never known a real home. Abandoned as a child and raised within the walls of Saint Catherine’s Medical Center, she grew up believing she was sick, different, and broken. The doctors monitored her constantly, the nurses whispered behind closed doors, and no one ever seemed willing to answer the questions that haunted her.
Questions like why she healed so quickly. Why could she hear conversations from impossible distances? Why do her eyes sometimes flash gold to crimson when she was angry? Or why she dreamed every night of a burning castle and a woman calling her “little moon.”

The crown felt heavier than it should, not physically. Emotionally. Everywhere Becs went, people bowed. Warriors called her “your highness,” vampires called her “my queen.” It was awkward, very awkward.
The morning after the ceremony, Becs was hiding. Unfortunately, she was terrible at it.
