"I never loved you, Pandora," Xavier declared, his voice cold and devoid of emotion. "Our marriage was nothing but a facade, a means to an end. I was forced into this union, bound by duty and circumstance."
Tears streamed down my face, mingling with the dirt on my cheeks. "But Xavier," I choked out, my voice trembling with anguish. "We had something... something real. I felt it in your touch, in the way you looked at me. I believed in our love."
Xavier's gaze remained indifferent, his face a mask of detachment. "You were a pawn, Pandora," he continued, his words laced with an unsettling calmness. "A necessary piece in a game I had to play. But now that I have gained power, I no longer require your presence. Elena, my true love, awaits me." The name reverberated through the chamber, a cruel reminder of the woman who had torn us apart.

_Pandora's POV_

Five years later

"Mummy, how many candles will there be on my cake?", Rose asked.

I knelt down to her level and gently brushed a strand of her dark hair away from her face. "Well, Rose, since you're turning four today, we'll have four candles on your cake," I replied with a smile.
