I walk out of my room and head towards the back of the castle; that’s when it hit me. Caramel and sea salt. No. She can’t be here? I’m imagining it. “Get your ass moving and go claim our mate” Bruce yells in my mind. I followed the sweet scent to the banquet hall and threw open the doors.
“Ma…” It was all I got out when I saw her. The one and only love of my life standing with Elizabeth and Josie.
I grab hold of Bridget’s hand and lead her through the castle. “Oh my god, you live in the castle? Hang on, are you the new Princess Elizabeth who is mated to Prince Kyle? I knew you guys were werewolves, I didn’t know you would be our next queen. Strange how that works out” Bridget frantically signs.
“Is Matt here? And what are you? You must be half werewolf, half human because I can only smell human” Elizabeth signs and speaks at the same time.
“They aren’t half-human, Humans and mer-people smell similar" Kyle mentions to everyone in the room.
"You can be here. Yes, it’s a mating weekend and everyone is invited. But we are just learning about the Fundamentalists. If you mate with Lucas; you all will be at risk from them. We can get away with it; for the moment” Elizabeth voiced and I stand up, pulling Bridget with me.
“Can I say something? We don’t know what is going to happen except Bridget and I will get our hearing and her voice back. I personally am not going to stop that from happening. I’ve loved her since I was 14. Everyone else can do as they will; I will hide her if I have to. I will not be without her, not now, not ever.”
