Foresaken Lovers

Narrowing my eyes I pull one of my arms from its perch and wrap it around the neck of the guard, making him cut himself off with a choked gurgle and slam painfully against the bars. The newbie jumps in surprise before shakily aiming his sword at me. Reaching for the sword that sat on the restrained guards hip I pulled it out and stabbed him through the back. I loosen my grip and he falls to the ground in a lifeless heap. The other nearly drops his sword in fear and I crouch down to grab the dead guards key ring. Using it to unlock the cell, I push open the door. The newbie takes it as an opportunity to attempt to swing at me. I use the flat side of my hand to knock the sword from his grip and faster than he can react, I pin him against the wall, the sword pressed flush against his neck.
”Please, please don't kill me, ” he pleads. I just press the sword harder against him.
”Let this be a lesson to you and the rest of your gods-forsaken court. Don't underestimate me.” I let this ring in his mind before swiftly slicing through his neck. Pulling at the blade, the new guys head falls to the side and his body slides down the wall.
Stepping away I lift the blade slowly to the opposite side of my head before swiftly bringing it down again. The blood coating it splattered on the dirt floor and the brick wall. Lightning strikes again, this time illuminating half my body and leaving the other side shrouded in darkness, making me look like something from the purge. I begin to walk down the hall, slowly and purposefully. I'm coming Bri.

I took a deep breath of the barely chilled air as I made my way into the clearing, the buzz of the forest and its magic around me. Soaring oak trees surrounded the small patch of green grass while the occasional wildflower sprung up in random places. Small animals occupied the thickets at the perimeter of the clearing, rustling around and breaki……
