Rather then the fictional perception of fallen angles as an evil species, things have taken a turn when they have tasked for thousands of years to protect one human for their entire life. They train and become powerful and soon learn much about their chosen mortal. Then they are sent off on their own to fulfill their lifelong mission. However, when Kayla, a fallen angel who somehow lost contact with her mortal finally finds out why, she is torn between doing what she knows is right or fulfilling the mission she has always been sworn to do.
In this romance, things are thin between the two, one sworn to protect the other but now tasked to kill instead. The other, a King of the Serpent who's bent on showing who's boss by toying around with his prey. But what happens when this oath turns into something with less obligation and more free will?

I began to feel myself begin to hyperventilate. I didn't know what to do, what to say about one of our greatest warriors on the floor of my bedroom knocked out and probably dead. I didn't know what to say about the raven who had turned into a snake and possibly killed the fallen angel at my feet. I didn't know how to explain that my entire life ……
