I... I need air." My breathing became shallow as fear wrapped around me. Storm immediately appeared through my eyes "Bella... breathe. Slow down. Deep breaths.""I'm trying..."But I couldn't. The walls suddenly felt too close. I rushed downstairs, barely noticing Brady's office door as I sprinted past it. Throwing open the front doors, I ran outside until my legs gave out beneath me.I collapsed onto my knees, gasping for air.  Everything felt like it was closing in around me."Bella... breathe, honey..." Storm pleaded. Then strong arms wrapped around me. Before I even looked up, his scent surrounded me. Brady."Bella... Bella, look at me." His voice was gentle but full of worry."Come on, sweetheart. Breathe with me." His hand rubbed slow circles across my back. "You can do this." "What's wrong? Please... talk to me."I couldn't. My voice refused to work. Instead, Storm pushed forward."She's having a panic attack," I told him. "She's struggling because she's falling in love with you... and she doesn't think she's allowed to."Brady's eyes softened. I smiled. "But I know the truth.""You're our second chance." "She just hasn't realized it yet."I blocked Bella from hearing us. "You'd better treat her well, Alpha."He didn't hesitate. "I will." His answer was immediate. “I swear it."I nodded. "I'm sending her back." "Give her time to figure it out herself." "Don't ruin this moment for her.""I won't."Bella POVStorm slipped back inside me, and suddenly I could hear again. My breathing slowly returned to normal while Brady continued holding me against his chest. His heartbeat was calm. Steady.Safe. I realized something then. I wasn't afraid anymore. Being in his arms made everything disappear. The panic. The fear. The loneliness. All of it.Then Storm whispered the words I never believed I would hear again. "Mate..My heart stopped. "Mate..."Tears filled my eyes. "He is our mate."I stared up at Brady in complete shock. "Our... second chance..."His beautiful blue eyes were already filled with emotion. He knew.He had known this entire time. He had simply waited...for me.My lips trembled."Mate..."A tear rolled down my cheek. "Mine."His entire face lit up with the brightest smile I'd ever seen. "So you finally know," he whispered.I laughed through my tears. "You knew.""I did.""You never told me.""It wasn't my place." He gently brushed my tears away. "You deserved to discover it when your heart was ready."I reached up and cupped his face. "I'm sorry it took me so long."He smiled."I'd wait a lifetime for you."Then he leaned down and kissed me. Not the polite kiss we shared during ceremonies. Not the kiss for appearances. This was the kiss of a true mate finally finding his second chance. It was full of love...Hope...Promise...Forever.Neither of us noticed the figure standing deep within the tree line.Hidden among the shadows. Watching. If hatred could kill, both Brady and I would already be dead. A pair of furious eyes glared at us before disappearing silently into the forest. Why was it always the woods? I had a terrible feeling. What will I do when I find out who's been watching me? Deep down...I already knew. Reman. He wanted me back. And he would never stop until I returned to him. He would destroy everything I loved...Everyone I cared about...Until I walked back through his front door. But that...Would be the biggest mistake of my life.

When Owen asked me if I was ready to go home, to his home, I honestly didn't know what to say. I just stared at him. After everything that had happened, after everything I had done to his brother, I never thought Owen would still want me. I thought there was a chance he would look at me different……
