The caveat was that he would have to pay her all of his debt back at once if he tried to leave her before that. It wouldn't be as horrible, he believed. That was until he caught the house maid's eye.

It was supposed to be the best day of my life. If the sorrow of losing everyone I loved had not cast a shadow over my life, it would have been the most joyous day. I lost everyone I cared about, except my mate, of course, and he was worth living for.
