As they begin to navigate their way back to each other, they find themselves facing new challenges and adversaries. As a result of Caleb's inability to mark his mate, Emilia's identity and capabilities are shrouded in uncertainty, causing tension between the two. I was taking long strokes. The water was freezing, but I wasn't, diving deeper down the lake where we had camped. The spot was just a short run from the cavern, but since I couldn't shift, I had left early, just when the sun was up before everyone had woken up, wanting some time alone.
