Mathis. The Mad God.
He was casted out of the Afterworld for his betrayal and tyranny. Forced down to the Otherworld roaming in between the ordinary and the fantastic, he sees nothing more than what he can conquer. Soon enough he’s running rampant through both worlds, searching for the magic that will break open the gates to the Afterworld and help him reclaim his place as a god.
Then there is Bex. A young mortician who works with death in more ways than one. She is a Grim Reaper and has been since she was young, but keeps her uniqueness a secret as she is the only Reaper there has been in the last seven hundred years.
As Mathis continues his rampant search for the key to his old throne, an old friend pops back into Bex’s life, requesting her help and unique skill set as bodies start to pile in the Otherworld. But with Bex’s arrival comes the start of a war, and Bex is in the very center of it all.

Sitting by the window as corpses lie at my feet. The more I practiced ripping the souls from their bodies it became easier. My days were filling with this one task alone. Bodies were piling higher everyday, and it has only been a week.
