It was well past seven that evening when Chloe and Edward's parents finally returned home—or from wherever they'd been. The maid who had sorted things out earlier had already gone, leaving Chloe completely in Edward's care. Oblivious to their parents’ return, Chloe and Edward remained on the bed.
