Alpha Riley Drake is part of the Werewolf King's Investigation Squad along with his Alpha cousins and their Betas. He is also the youngest son of the current King. They travel to Blood River Pack for a vague set of complaints about possible abuse of power by the Alpha. The squad are unsure of what they are looking for but determined to investigate and find out the truth.
While there they meet Ellie Lark and her group of friends. Ellie is a shy unassuming member of the pack who seems to have no aspirations or ambitions. Hoping her group can shed light on what is going on, the Squad spend time with them. Slowly they find little things while they decipher if the complaints were true. And maybe they find more along the way that they were hoping for, like their mates. Ellie looks more and more like she's mistreated but it's hard to tell. They also discover that some wolves will go to unspeakable lengths for power and control. All the while the whole werewolf world seems to be spiralling out of control, with more and more wickedness showing up demanding the King and the squad's attention. Is it just a random thing or is there a bigger force at work?
