“You’re the Alpha?” I spit, far more harshly than I intended. She flinches at my tone and I instantly feel like s**t. “How are you an Alpha? You’re a woman,” I say and, for a second, anger flashes in her eyes.
'Stop upsetting our soulmate, you jackass!' Hisses my wolf Ace.
“Nothing gets by you, does it? I’m the Alpha the same way your Alpha became one; I was born one,” she says matter-of-factly.
“So, is this like, a temporary position?” I ask, still trying to understand.
“Temporary?” She asks calmly.
“As in, you hold the position until you find your animai and then he becomes Alpha, and you take over as Luna,” I explain. She looks as if I just slapped her.
“Are you actually suggesting that I should hand over my birthright?” She asks in a tone that makes me shiver with dread.
