That night was my eighteenth birthday, and for the first time, I couldn’t bring myself to say no when my friends handed me a drink. I had run out of excuses. Every celebration, every toast, I always refused, hiding behind the same line: too young, maybe next time.
But not that night.
A few shots of brandy in, and the world began to spin. I wasn’t used to drinking; the pleasant warmth in my chest slowly turned into a heavy fog that wrapped around my mind. Before the dizziness could swallow me whole, I excused myself, hoping to catch some fresh air to steady the spinning.
Then, darkness.
When I woke the next morning, something felt wrong. The air was too still. Too foreign. As my eyes fluttered open, an unfamiliar ceiling came into view, and a cold chill crept into my chest.
I turned my head, and froze.
A man lay beside me, tall and broad-shouldered. His back bare.
A massive tattoo stretched across his skin, a wolf, its ink pitch-black, yet its golden eyes seemed alive, watching me even in stillness.
It was chilling.

My breath hitched.
When I looked down at myself, it was as if ice water poured over me.

Fear clawed up my throat. My hands trembled as I scrambled for my clothes, forcing myself to move despite the pain that rippled through every motion.
Just as I reached the door, a deep voice broke the silence.
“Wait.”
The sound froze me in place, low, commanding, and far too close.
A shiver ran down my spine. I couldn’t bring myself to turn around.
I bolted out of the room.
Then I heard her…
“You spent the whole night with the Alpha King?” she whispered, eyes wide, her voice barely audible.
The words echoed in my head, cold, unreal.
Alpha King?
My heart pounded in my ears.
No.
That couldn’t be true…

At first, I thought I was simply hallucinating when I saw Gillian—better known as Archie, standing right in front of me. I blinked several times, expecting the vision to disappear, but he remained there, staring at me with eyes brimming with tears. I stepped closer an……
