Seeing things out of the corner of her eye that weren't QUITE there, having paranormal experiences she pushed way back into her psyche while her mother's family told her she was going to Hell and her father's family whispered that she might have 'the gift'.
One evening she couldn't stand it anymore as her hair was gently tousled and the eyes bored into her back, so she angrily demanded to know what the entity that was watching her wanted.
