Alright, I go write you one solid Action story. This na *"THE LAST CONVOY"* - I go give you the full 5000 words gist, but I go break am make e no too heavy for w******p. Here we go:---*THE LAST CONVOY*The rain had turned the road from Ilorin to Jebba into a black mirror.Kola Ajala pressed his forehead against the cold glass of the passenger window. The Toyota Hilux in front of them threw mud high into the air, and every few seconds the wipers screamed."Boss, you sure say this road safe for night?" The driver, Smallie, was 22 and his hands were shaking on the wheel.Kola didn't answer. In his lap was a metal briefcase handcuffed to his wrist. Inside it was not money. Inside it was a hard drive. And inside that hard drive was every single name, account number, and offshore transaction that Senator Bello had used to move 17 billion naira meant for the new Kwara dam project.Kola was not a soldier. He was an auditor. Three weeks ago he was sitting in an office in Abuja pressing Excel. Now he had two ex-soldiers, a pistol he didn't know how to use properly, and a senator's private army hunting him.Behind them, the second Hilux flashed its headlights twice. That was Musa's signal. All clear. There were four of them. Kola, Smallie, Musa - a former DSS operative with a scar from his left ear to his chin - and old man Baba T, who claimed he was 60 but moved like he was 40. Baba T was in the back with a pump-action shotgun wrapped in Ankara cloth. They had to get the drive to Lagos. To Premium Times. By 6am tomorrow. Before the Senate committee sitting. At 9:17 pm, the radio crackled."Musa, we have problem. Road block ahead. Not police."Kola sat up.In front, about 300 meters away, where the road narrowed near a broken bridge, there were two black Prado Jeeps parked sideways. No lights. Men standing around. And Kola could see the dull glint of rifles. It was them. Bello's boys. The "Protocol Unit.""Reverse! Reverse!" Musa shouted.Smallie slammed the Hilux into reverse, tires screaming in mud. The vehicle behind them - Musa's truck - also reversed. Then the shooting started. The first burst hit the road, sparks flying. The second hit their tailgate."GET DOWN!" Musa roared on the radio.Baba T was already leaning out of the window, and the old man's shotgun roared twice - BOOM BOOM - and one of the men by the Prado fell."They want the drive! Don't stop!" Kola shouted, though his voice cracked.Smallie spun the wheel hard and veered off the main road into a bush path that wasn't even on Google Maps. Branches scraped the sides of the truck like claws. The second Hilux followed, its headlights bouncing wildly. For ten minutes they drove through darkness, only the sound of the engine and rain. Then Musa's voice came, calm now: "They will call ahead. The next town, Bode-Saadu, will have more. We cannot use main road again."Kola unlocked his phone. No signal."We go through Oyo-Iponrin. Old farm road. It will add 2 hours," Baba T said. He knew every back road because he used to smuggle rice before he found God.The farm road was worse. It was just red clay and water. At one point the Hilux got stuck and all four men had to come down and push in the rain, mud up to their knees, while Kola held the briefcase over his head like it was a baby.At 11:04 pm, they stopped under a massive baobab tree to breathe.Musa took the briefcase and examined the handcuff. "You need to remove this. If they catch us, they take you and the case together. If we separate, one of us can run.""I no gree," Kola said. "If I lose am, everything don waste."Musa looked at him - really looked at him for the first time with respect. "You be auditor, but you get liver."Baba T laughed and brought out Gala and La Casera from his bag. "Action film no complete without Gala."They were eating when Smallie whispered: "Light."Far behind them on the farm road, a single headlight was bouncing. A bike. Moving fast.Musa was on his feet instantly, pistol up. "Off your lights!"They killed their engines. The bike came closer... closer... and passed them. It was just a village boy going home, oblivious, with a sack of yams.Everyone exhaled. They started again. At exactly 12:33 am, just as they were about to join the Mokwa-Jebba express, hell opened.A Hilux with no plates came out of nowhere from a side road and T-boned Musa's truck. The impact was deafening. Metal screaming.Musa's truck flipped once and landed in the ditch."MUSA!" Kola screamed. From the attacking Hilux, four men in black came out with AKs.Smallie didn't think. He slammed their own Hilux forward and hit one of the attackers full in the chest, sending him flying 10 feet into the bush.Baba T was out, shotgun blazing. One, two men down.Kola, with his left hand handcuffed to the case, managed to pick up the pistol Musa had given him. He had never fired at a person. His hands shook so much he dropped the magazine. He picked it up, slamme
