In 2024, Raina ‘Rain’ Vashti turned 18 and about to go to college to take Psychology in order to help her delusional mother who had traumatic burnt injury on her face due to an explosion accident that she couldn’t remember. Luna, Raina’s mother, keeps insisting that Raina is the long lost queen of the Novo tribe, the 11th son of Rahaj (King) Malacaz. The Vashtis, according to Luna, are from the mythical village known as Malacaz hidden behind the facade of Veering-Gan City located in the province of Samar, Philippines. Veering-Gan bridge is famous and rumored by the town folks to be a pathway to the magical realm and city of lights appearing in the middle of the night, seen by people lost in the darkness of the riverbank. Raina, living in a shanty alongside the riverbank didn’t believe all the bullshit rumors since she didn’t, not even once, experience anything unusual happening in the place she grew up in.
Desperate to bring her mother to Manila to be treated for her mental illness, Raina resorted into selling an expensive vase artifact her mother had been keeping and restoring for the longest time. The deal turned deadly when Raina found herself falling from the cliff to her death while clinging to the vase. With her mother gone, Raina found herself in the city of Malacaz, 2000 years back from when she was born.
In the city of Malacaz, ten Datus (Tribal Chiefs) were arguing about a prophecy of a 2000 year-old blood that could revive the lost tribe of Novo. The tension among the tribes became heated with the arrival of Raina who came from the fallen world of humans. In turn, an assassin must kill Raina, a nobleman must marry her, while the rest of the tribes’ secrets are about to be revealed by Raina’s hidden power. The journey to meet the Rajah who can decide Raina’s future turned out to be exhilarating, deadly, and quite an adventure of self-discovery.
Along the way, Raina would learn about her bloodlines from Malacaz and Mahganda down to the love triangle between Loki, Vashti and Azah. Torn between her duty to gather the lost tribe of Novo and discover the true nature of the ceremony of Agham, Raina must fall in and out of love to know who she truly is in the process of breaking her heart over and over again. In the race against time, power, and principles, Raina will discover her mother’s true sacrifice and the demonic entity lurking at the very core of her being.
