Mallory Larson, had just broken up with her boyfriend and quit her tiring and stress-filled job, and she was seeking for a new chapter in her life as she was now in her mid thirties and remained unmarried and childless. In an attempt to escape her issues and declutter her mind, she made the decision to travel alone to Lisbon. She meets Liz, carefree and fun, and ends up having a one night stand with him, she never anticipated that her brief holiday fling was set to truly have a repercussion since she knew she was never seeing him again after she leaves Lisbon.
When she got hired in her new job as an editor in a publishing company, she came face-to-face with him once again, only this time she was shocked to realize that the charming guy she met in Lisbon was Alistair Wellesley, the youngest son of Senator Geoffrey Wellesley.
Perhaps because of their significant age differences, Mallory and Alistair both understood it was not an ordinary one-night stand. They filled each other’s lapses and flaws. Although they are compelled to see each other more often than she thought they would, they both know that their one-night encounter was intense and crazy.
