“I love you!” Her lips shivered as she confessed. Her eyes were still closed. Her heart was racing.
With those three magical words, he stood there motionlessly amidst the dark woods. It was the moment he had waited for. After years of loneliness, he had finally found her. He could feel overwhelming emotions. His gaze traveled on her closed eyes, and then on her little nose to her rosy lips. They were a little apart. Her expression was unsure, in between happiness and sorrow. Her breathing became heavy.
He smiled, stretching his hand to touch her cheek, to feel her skin, just for once. But before he could do so, a butterfly flew around from nowhere and sat on his hand. He frowned a little and, in a blink, the beautiful creature caught into the fire. His smile disappeared instantly. His heart sank deeper in sadness once again.
'No! This is not right! You can't love me. I'm nothing but a monster, Mia,' He thought.
He turned around and left with no word, leaving her alone in the darkness.
