While working on one of her school papers about the economics of families, Vee quickly realizes that she misses the swampy soil of the New Orleans city. With summer break a day away, she decides that surprising her mother with a visit would reconcile her feelings.
Once touching down in the humid Southern air, timelines and dark forces quickly begin work as Vee steps into unknown responsibility. Her aunt begins the never ending journey by revealing to Vee that she truly doesn't know the facts about her family. Her mother has denied her information and kept her in the shadows. Little does Vee know that it was for a reason.
