Astrid
My mind felt uneasy. My heartbeat increased by the minutes as I kept waiting for Merabeth's response. We were picking up fruits to make juices and salads.
“When did the Alpha King return?” I questioned.
My mind kept racing towards that day at the great Halls but I kept shrugging it off. “Get a grip of yourself, girl; he can never be the one for you,” I kept repeating to myself.
“Well, I heard he came back a day before the gathering of the royals.”
“Rollo says it's something about the killing of Høtenhiem wolves.”
“He says the vampires killed them,” replied Merabeth.
I stopped right on track when she made mention of vampires as tears swelled in my eyes. Whenever they are mentioned, it reminds me of my pains and suffering. The constant hatred was particularly because I had a bloodline with the vampires, the wolves' mortal enemies.
“I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you,” She said.
“Please don't. You did not make me this way, my parents did, so the fault is not yours,” I replied, as I tried wiping away the falling tears.
“Please carry on without me. I'll join you later in the kitchen,” I said as I left her. She knew stopping me was pointless. She knew I needed the space at the moment.
Merabeth knew where I was heading to, my favourite spot just near the edge of the river bridge. I loved watching the fishes jumping out just to get the cool of the fresh air before returning back to the waters.
Most of the time I wondered if they ever wanted to escape the river, to get a taste of freedom like I wanted. It made me cry the more I thought about my present predicament. “Was I ever going to escape this gruesome reality?” I just kept weeping.
Then something struck me. “No, it couldn't be,” I thought to myself. The scent, it was close. I immediately scanned my eyes through the area to be certain I wasn't daydreaming, but I could not see him. The scent only persisted.
My heart ached, my muscles grew tense as my blood kept pulsating. I sprouted on my feet as I trailed its direction. I had not gotten a few feet away when something cracked metres away from me. I gasped at the sight.
What? It was a wolf. A large grey wolf with a black colouration on its front and hind legs. “Could it be?” I thought to myself as I let out another gasp when I met its icy blue eyes.
The scent was more intense than the first. My hair prickled. I wanted to rub my hands against its fur as I stretched them forward, beckoning for it to come closer.
I needed it to feel its fur, breathe its scent. The goddess answered me, it came closer. It was right then that I realised its massive size. It stood at my shoulders, with a massive head.
My hands caressed its fur as it brought its head down, rubbing it on me. It gave low whines within its chest, it made my smile widen the more. This was the first time I had ever seen a wolf in its form.
Within split seconds it was back in its human form, standing naked before me. “Goddess save me,” I said, as I let down a gulp of saliva.
Heaven was before my eyes as they went all over him. He was the one at the Great Hall. I had so many questions, but my mouth and thoughts had betrayed me.
I kept staring as my eyes left his icy-blue eyes, down to his broad chest and arms I could easily get lost in them. Then they went further down as I let out a gasp with my jaws coming apart.
It was huge and firm, and I was done for. My legs had begun weakening as blood gushed straight down into my core, constricting the vaginal walls and enlarging my full core. Immediately, my core became wet, and so much liquid began dripping down my thighs.
I cupped my breast as my n*****s had hardened making my breathing heavier as I was overcome with lust.
“Astrid!” Merabeth called.
I turned towards the direction of her call as I could see her approaching from the distance, but when I turned back, he was gone. I scanned my eyes throughout the area, hoping to catch a glimpse of him but nothing.
“Astrid, are you okay?”
For a few seconds, I was lost. My body still tensed from the serene sight earlier. My breath had begun returning to its normal rhythm, but still, my core was swollen with blood.
“Yes, I'm alright. Why wouldn't I be?” I replied as I managed to move inches away from my position.
Merabeth gave me a questioning look. I could not blame her. Until it all made sense, I could not tell her about my recent occurrences. It would be crazy, to say the least. One minute he was here, and the next, he disappeared. Yeah, they would definitely call me a loosehead.
“Well, you are needed. I have to tell you though, the new replacement for Hudson is no joke. I bore witness to the brutal punishment inflicted on 105 just before he tossed her into the dungeon for merely breaking a vessel,”
“Hmmm,” I replied, trying to hide how distracted I was, but it wasn't working. Merabeth gave me an alarming look, raising one of her eyebrows in a questionable gesture. Of course, she had expected more than just a hmmm. I had expected more than a hmmm from myself but I was caught in a Web.
“Hmmm? That is what you have to say?” She retorted.
“Well let's face the facts. When have any of our housemasters been merciful? Certainly, you do not expect this one to be?” I replied to her equally.
I could see the expression in her eyes. Those green eyes widened at my words. They were confused and concerned. I had never raised my voice or spoken in such a manner to her or any before. Even I was dumbfounded. She walked to my front in a confronting manner.
“Alright, enough,” she said.
“Ever since you came back from the castle dungeons, you've been behaving differently; it's like you're keeping secrets from me. You would not be keeping secrets from me now, would you?”
I recoiled. Merabeth was right. I had forgotten the kind of friend I had. There was no reason to keep secrets from her. My life was already a crazy one and one more craziness wouldn't define my mental state. Still, telling her would help get the pressure off my back. Maybe she could help figure out why I'm having these crazy tensions.
“I'm sorry,” I replied.
“Your apology would only be accepted once I know what is going on inside those fishy brains of yours,” she responded.
I hesitated for a while before finally having the courage to say it.
“I think I've found my mate,” I said, as I watched those green eyes widen once more
