Chapter 5- What The Hell Happened?

Kamiko POV

Sleep.

I just want to sleep, but either my body doesn’t want to or when I close my eyes I relive the attack again. I find myself screaming and clawing at my throat again, Jeff has tried to help me sleep but nothing has worked.

Instead, I am just sitting on the sofa answering Jeff’s questions. He wanted to wait but I told him to just ask me.

“Do you know your attacker?” Jeff asks me kindly.

I shake my head. “No, he has been in the bar for the last few nights and today I felt like I was being watched and followed but I do not know who he is.”

“So, you don’t know why he attacked you?”

“No idea.” I say, sighing.

“You really need to sleep.” Jeff says, rubbing my arms as I am shivering.

“I can’t, I just keep reliving it. What other questions do you have?” I ask, he has already asked me around a hundred questions, ranging from the attack to my personal life to just random things.

“Nope, not for now anyway.” He says, pulling me in for a hug.

It is as if a damn breaks inside of me, I just clutch to his shirt and cry into his chest.

“I was so scared.” I cry.

“I know.” He soothes, rubbing my back and just letting me cry.

“I thought I was going to die. I honestly thought that that was it, that I was going to be killed and then God knows what done to me or my body.” I cry, not even bothering to hide my fears. It feels good to finally be able to let them out.

“I know, but he didn’t. I just wish I had gotten there sooner.” Jeff says, sadness coating his words at the end.

“Every time I close my eyes… every time… the words…. the smells… the pain…. It all comes rushing back at me.” I say through my sobs.

“We are here now for you; you will not be on your own again.” He says with such finality that I find myself just nodding.

We stay there like that for a while, finally my sobs subside but I don’t want to move as I feel safe right now. But then I remember that I never told him where I live, but just as I am about to ask him the doorbell goes.

“I’ll get it.” Jeff says, starting to move.

“No, I will get it.” I say, getting up off him and heading to the front door. Why I have the desire to answer the door right now I do not know, but I feel like I need to get to the door very quickly.

I open the door to tall and handsome- Sebastian. Before I can ask him what he is doing here or before any of us can speak, I am pulled into his embrace.

I take in a deep breath and catch Sebastian’s scent; it is Vanilla and honey but before anything else happens darkness consumes me and I fall unconsciously into the one place I feel completely safe- I fall into Sebastian’s arms.

Alpha Sebastian POV

“What the hell happened?” I ask Jeff as Kamiko collapses into my arms. I quickly lift her up and hold her in the bridal pose.

“You had better come in.” Jeff sighs, opening the door for me to enter. I had gotten a mind link from Brenda that something had happened to Kamiko and that I needed to get to hers right now. I left the meeting I was in and ran as fast as I could to her home.

I enter and head straight for the living room, I sit down on the sofa and rest Kamiko in my arms. My wolf and I both calming down now that our mate is safe in our embrace.

“What happened?” I ask again as Jeff sits down.

“Turns out that a rogue has been stalking Kamiko, and they decided to attack tonight. But I have the feeling that there is more to this than meets the eye.” Jeff tells me, my anger boiling up.

“What do you mean?” I ask, breathing in Kamiko's scent to calm me and my wolf back down.

“The stalking only started after you danced with her, I asked around at the bar tonight and a few of the staff members commented on seeing him over the last few nights every time Kamiko was on shift, which has been every night. I decided at closing time to wait around as I had a feeling that something might happen, and good job I did.

“What I caught up with Kamiko she was fighting the rogue, and not doing a half bad job considering she is only human. I had no choice, alpha, but to intervene. I did manage not to transform though, but I had to make myself known and protect my Luna. Brenda said that she should be checked over by a doctor, which I agree with as she has not slept.” Jeff explains, looking worriedly at Kamiko.

“What do you mean she has not slept?” I ask, looking down as she is now sleeping soundly in my arms.

Jeff then proceeds to fills me in on what he knows that a rival pack member had been staking out the bar where Kamiko works. When he asked her about it, he realized that the stalking started the night after we danced, just after I discovered that she was my mate.

Jeff had gone to the bar tonight as when he made contact with Kamiko earlier in the bar, she had fear etched into her eyes, so he had visited the bar during opening times and stayed there. It was then that he noticed a lone wolf was in the bar and was watching Kamiko all night.

At closing time Jeff left but then decided to follow Kamiko home, it was a few minutes later that he heard a scream and ran towards it. What he saw frightened and angered him, the lone wolf had Kamiko pinned to the ground and was strangling her and landing punches.

“But our Luna is one hell of a fighter.” Jeff says, pride shining in his eyes as he looks at Kamiko.

“What do you mean?” I ask. Tightening my grip on her.

“She was clawing his face, and it turns out that she had pepper sprayed him before as Brenda found a bottle of it a few feet away covered in her scent. She is one hell of a fighter.” Jeff says.

But I feel sad and like such a failure, the fact that my mate was in the predicament when I am an Alpha is a punch in the face. I should have had more protection than just Jeff on her.

“However, we may have a few issues.” Jeff says, pulling me out of my thoughts.

“Why?”

“She heard me call him a rogue, and that I didn’t need to ask her where she lives.”

“So?”

“From what Brenda and I have found out about her, she is intelligent, and it won’t be long before she starts to think back on the attack and that I called him ‘rogue’ and that I didn’t ask her where she lives. You will be having one hell of a conversation coming your way.” Jeff says smirking.

“Why my way?” I ask shocked.

“Because you are her mate, it is only right you answer them questions. Alpha.” Jeff mocks.
