I’m in heaven as I savor every bite of Nana’s heavenly baking. The desserts are so divine, I feel like I’m floating on a cloud of chocolate and cream. There’s no way I can hide the evidence—my face is covered in chocolate, but I couldn’t care less. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this moment.
Nana, sitting across from me, is also a mess of chocolate, and I can’t help but laugh. “I guess I know where I get it from,” I chuckle, wiping my face half-heartedly.
Feeling delightfully full, I grab my coke and down it in one go, releasing the loudest, most unladylike burp I’ve ever heard. “Sorry, Nana,” I laugh sheepishly, “but it’s my birthday, right?”
Nana just laughs along with me, snapping her fingers, and in an instant, the table is cleared. “What a beautiful meal you made for me, Nana. But how were you making things appear and disappear like that?” I ask, still in awe of her abilities.
She finishes her drink and gives me a playful smile. “That’s called conjuring, sweetie,” she explains, pulling up her sleeve to reveal a rune etched into her arm. “It’s part of the fairy ability I possess. Creation magic. By clapping my hands, I can bring anything I wish into physical form. And with a snap of my fingers, I can send those physical items away.”
Without warning, she demonstrates. With a single snap, my clothes vanish, leaving me in nothing but my underwear. Before I can even protest, she claps her hands, and suddenly I’m dressed in the most stunning white and purple princess gown I’ve ever seen. The fabric is soft, shimmering in the light as if woven from magic itself.
“Wow, Nana! This dress is… breathtaking! I feel like a real princess. But wait, where did my clothes go?” I ask, twirling in the gown, admiring how it flows with my movements.
Nana giggles at my wide-eyed amazement. “Your clothes? They’re back in the washing machine. The dishes are in the dishwasher, the trash has been sent to the dump, and the leftovers are in the fridge,” she says matter-of-factly.
My jaw drops. With a single snap, she was able to send everything to different locations, each precisely where they needed to go. “That’s… incredible, Nana!”
She straightens up, a serious expression crossing her face for a moment. “Lenora, you are a real princess,” she says, clapping her hands once more. A large, ornate mirror appears in front of me, reflecting my image. I gasp as I see myself in full—radiant, regal, and glowing in the gown she conjured.
As I take in my appearance, Nana steps beside me with a small, intricate box in her hands. Her eyes are filled with love and something deeper—pride, perhaps. “Happy birthday, darling,” she says softly. “This was your mother’s.” She opens the box, revealing a silver tiara, encrusted with glistening amethyst gems. It is the most precious thing I’ve ever laid eyes on, delicate and shimmering with an almost ethereal glow.
Nana gently places the tiara on my head, and as soon as it touches me, a rush of warmth floods through my body. My reflection in the mirror begins to glow—bright, pure energy radiating from me as the tiara settles into place. For a moment, I feel like I’m floating, weightless, as a surge of power courses through me.
Then, as quickly as it began, the glow fades, and everything returns to normal. But something has changed. I feel it deep inside me—a new strength, a new connection to who I truly am. I glance down at my collarbone and notice a new rune glowing beneath my right shoulder. It looks like a radiant sun, shining with a soft, golden light before slowly fading into my skin.
