Dreams are lost and hearts are broken

2-years On

Alaina walked towards the office where Elijah worked; she hated this place; She’d been dealing with anxiety and depression since that god awful day she’d got married to him, she was regretting her decision to become his wife. She didn’t want him nor did she want to be married to that obnoxious asshole. He’d treated her like s**t since she’d agreed to it. She so desperately wanted to get away, get away from him, get away from everything. She had no life, no friends, nothing but him, the evil human being that was her boss and her husband. She knew he had no feelings for her, so why was he keeping her around?

She walked to his office with the folders he had asked for she knocked but nothing so she decided to enter he always told her if he didn’t answer he wasn’t there so just to drop off whatever it was and he’d see to it when he returned, but today was different today felt off any other time he wouldn’t be in his office and she’d just drop whatever in his desk and leave. Not today he was grunting and the sounds of a woman who he'd bent over the desk was moaning as he continued to take her from behind.

Alaina stood frozen with her mouth agape she knew the ass hole had no feelings towards her but it still hurt. She dropped the files and ran out of there. She slammed the ladies bathroom door shut, the tears kept coming and there was nothing she could do about it why? Why me? She thought out loud if it wasn’t bad enough to share a bed with the devil himself she had to deal with the amount of women he would screw before her. She’d had enough this time, she was leaving this time there was no if no buts she was leaving, she owed him nothing nothing at all. She was done with this life she was almost nineteen and she'd missed it so much since he’d come into her life and made it a living hell.

“Alaina where are you?”

No answer.’

“Alaina come out, we need to talk.”

Nothing where the f**k was she? She’d left work early he knew because the files he’d asked for were stawn all across the floor of his office, f**k, she must’ve came when I was busy f*****g Amanda. Though she knows the score I should’ve locked the fuking door. This was an arranged marriage she knows she means nothing to me, she may be a good screw after a hard day's work, but that is all. I did this as a favour to her so she could have a roof over her head after her parents died.

She was a good P.A. And that was the only reason I kept her around. Everyone thinks I’m an ass hole for treating her the way I do, they are right she doesn’t deserve any of this, she needs people her I own age around her that’s why I was going to enroll her in university for four years. I know she doesn’t want to be my P.A. Forever so I thought I’d surprise her,that went t**s up. I should never have invited Amanda into my office she’s a f*****g w***e and she hates Alaina with a passion.

“Alaina!’ Where the f**k is she? “Alaina where are you honey ?”

I could heard sniffling had she been crying?

“Alaina.”

“Leave me alone.”

“Where are you sweetheart. We need to talk.”

“No we don’t you made it quite clear from the beginning I was nothing to you leave me the f**k alone.”

I opened the bedroom door. “We need to talk Alaina.”

“No we don’t. You have no feelings for me Elijah today proved it. Just go back to your who’re I’m done.”

“It wasn’t what it looked like babe.”

“Don’t babe me Elijah I saw it with my own eyes. My own f*****g eyes Elijah. We’re done.”

“You don’t mean that.”

“I do. I want a divorce.”

I walked up to her, lifting her chin in the palm of my hand. “Not happening.”

“Yes it is. I've had enough of this life. It’s torture Elijah, you said it yourself I’m just here to fill the gaps in. The ones your whores can’t. I’m sick of coming last, I'm sick of the way you treat me. I should never have agreed to the stupid marriage. I’m leaving, you can have all the whores you like and I won’t even get in the way cause I won’t be here.”

“You’re never leaving me Alaina so you understand?”

“You blackmailed me into this pathetic marriage. I’m done, I can no longer bear to be with you. Looking at you makes me sick. I can't stand your face in mine.”

I inched forward pressing my lips on hers kissing her with all I have in me. Tears are slipping down her face. “I love you Alaina.’I moved away from her. ‘I’m never going to let you divorce me Alaina. So get used to it.”

“Just let me go Elijah you don’t need me.”

“I had a surprise for you, I was hoping to tell you at the office but you left.”

She looked at me.

“I managed to get you a place at university I know you’ve always wanted to go and finish your education, so I talked to the professor and he managed to get you a place.”

“Wow thanks. Now you're getting rid of me with grand gestures yet you won’t divorce me.”

“I’m not trying to get rid of you Alaina. I know you don’t want the position of my P.A. Forever, so I wanted you to take this time to finish your studies. You deserve the best in life.”

“A divorce is the best thing right now not Uni.”

“So you won’t be going?”

“Oh I will, just to get away from you.”

“You don’t mean that Alaina. You love me as much as I love you.”

“Don't fool yourself Elijah, you’ve never had any feelings for me and I have none for you.”

“That’s not true.”

“I don’t need your lies Elijah I’m done with them. Once I return I want a divorce.”

“I’m giving you this time to change your mind.”

“I’ll never change it. I’m done with this bull s**t life.”

“And where will you go, Alaina? You have no one but me.”

“I’ll find somewhere.”

“No one will hire you. I’ll make sure of that if you go ahead with this.”

“Just go Elijah I’m done with your bullshit. I don’t even get why you ever helped me. You could’ve done it without any of this and none of this would be happening now.”

“Just remember you brought this all on by yourself.” I stormed out of the room, the ungrateful b***h after all I did for her and this is how she repays me. She’ll never find work anywhere. I'll make sure of it.

Elijah

She walked into the hall with her suitcase with only a month left till campus opened for classes she’d decided to leave now, now of all days. She hadn’t eaten and she was ready to leave. “Going already?”

“The sooner I’m out of here the better.”

“But you haven’t eaten.”

“I’m not hungry”.’

“Let me do you something.”

“Are you not listening? I’m. Not. Hungry!”

“Fine let me drive you and we’ll get something on the way.”

“Whatever.”

I pulled myself up grabbing my keys walking over to her opening the door. “Ladies first.”

“How thoughtful.” She said, cutting her eyes.

I f*****g hated it when she did that. She stepped out I took her suitcase off her and pressed a button to open the locks, on the car doors and boot. She opened the door, getting in closing the door, belting up. I opened the car boot putting her suitcase in. How did it all ever come to this? I closed the boot walking up to the drivers door opening it getting in. I belted up starting the engine putting the car into gear, pulling away. We grabbed a coffee and something to eat on the way. We got to the campus and she got her dorm keys and I pulled the suitcase in.
