We’ve had our eyes on Shawn Thomas for quite some time now. I can’t believe Tiara got married to him after everything he had done to her. Stacey and I had made sure she was as far away from him as possible.

Though we loved each other, we decided it was for the best to make a clear break, so he couldn’t find any of us. Stacy had always known where I was if she needed me.

She had a tracker on her phone, so I knew where she was pretty much all the time. I knew she had gotten married to Kristian, but she didn’t know the things I knew about him or his family. I had no idea if she knew he and Shaun were related. If she did, it couldn’t have bothered her, or she wouldn’t still be with him.

I worked so hard to be where I am today. I am one of the top crime investigators here in the UK. I’ve been investigating the Thompson's for a few years now with my partner, Grady Homes.

He's the best in the field. I'm lucky to have him as my partner. We’ve been surrounding the house he has. Tiara has been locked away for quite some time now. We also know that Cameron, Aaron and Elijah are there too. We were about to make our move when a car pulled up on the outskirts of the house. Three, to be precise, what the f**k?!

The two men got out of the driver's side and the passenger's side. Oh s**t, this isn’t good. The great business tycoon, Domenic Luciano and the Mafia’s most wanted: Benji De Alvaro, was here with at least ten to twenty men. Why the hell were they here? “Stand down men. I need to get a closer look”

“Be careful, Sarg.”

“I will.”

I motioned to Grady to follow me. We were the best the force had, we'd taken so many bad guys down, we’d been on this for two years gathering all the information we needed to take this asshole down along with his entire family.

We crept slowly up to them, pointing the guns at them. Stupid I know, but what choice did we have? None of the guns pointed at us. I guess today would be a good day to die.

Everyone on the force calls me an Angel in devil's clothing. I've almost lost my life several times with this move. They both turned. “What can we help you with, officer?”

“This is a crime scene, and you're trespassing.”

“Well, officer, I apologize, but I see no signs.”

“Why are you here? This isn’t your territory.”

“Well, you see, my girl is in there, and I’m not budging till I get her out. And my friend is here to get his friends out. They went missing a few months ago along with my woman.”

“Who are these people you are talking about?”

“Tiara Hemingway, Stacey Brown and Kristian. So, if you don't mind, we’re in the middle of strategizing.”

Stacey is here. Why the f**k was I not informed? “I want to help.”

“What’s in it for you?”

“Nothing, they are my friends and I want to see them safe as you do.”

“And what’s in it for us if you help?”

“I’ll keep you out of this and Kristian, I know he's Shaun Thomas’s cousin. I want Shaun to rot in prison just like everyone else, so I won't mention either of you to her and who you are.”

“Why thank you, much appreciated, let’s get to it.”

I nodded and we began to make our plan. All my men were spread out, and they followed me into the house. Shooting the guards down. Going through the house grabbing the three accomplices and cuffing them, Shaun stood in the large room. “Took you long enough Jacob.”

“So you know why I’m here?”

“I do so, let's get it over and done with.”

I walked forward, my hand on my gun. He was a sly fucker. He'd ghosted us several times, now he was all alone and no one to back him up, but something was off. Why was he so calm?

He turned and aimed his gun at me. “Not today Jacob, not in a million years.”

BANG!

Shaun dropped to the ground. I looked around to see Grady smiling at me. “Thanks.”

“Anytime, partner, let's get this piece of trash where he belongs.”

“I couldn’t put it better myself.”

We grabbed him by his arms and dragged him out of the room and back to the van where Cameron, Elijah and Aaron were sitting. We threw him in. Cameron looked pitiful at me. “Please make sure Tiara is safe.”

I nodded, closing the van door. He seemed genuine. What had changed in him to be on Tiara’s side all of a sudden?

He looked pretty beaten up, and he had scars down his face. I would find out why that was all about once we were back, and they were all behind bars.

Domenic Luciano and Benji De Alvaro walked out with their men holding a barely recognizable Kristian and Stacey. She looked up at me and the bruises on her face looked fresh.

I was going to kill that bastard for this if he’d done this to them. What had he done to Tiara? My anger was boiling. Stacey looked up at me. “Jake?”

I smiled. “I’d say welcome home, but it’s not the welcome you would expect.”

She smiled briefly.

I looked around. Where the hell was Tiara? I promised that Jackass I would take care of her. I couldn’t if she wasn’t here.

“Where’s Tiara?”

“We don’t know?”

“What do you mean you don’t f*****g know? She was there a few hours ago. Would someone like to tell me why the f**k she isn’t here and safe?”

“There were two other cells, Jacob. They had blood all over the walls. It looked like he was holding two other people in the cells, and they had broken free.”

“Who the hell would he even take down there? Who else has crossed him?”

“Reece.” I heard Stacey faintly say. “I heard him arguing with Reece.”

“Are you sure it was Reece Stacey?”

She nodded. “But he could’ve taken Deeks too.”

“Who the hell is Deeks?”

“A guy from Uni that was hanging around us.”

I nodded. Great, now we have to look into this even more. One of them was Tiara, until we knew where I wouldn’t rest. She was a friend, a good friend.

Pity we ended up at different high schools, and we were unable to protect her from the assholes who were tormenting her, as well as Shaun Thomas. I needed to know everything, but it would have to wait.

Stacey went and Kristian needed medical care immediately, so I would have to wait for them to get the all-clear, so I could talk to both of them.

They got into the ambulance and pulled away. I looked at Benji and Domenic. “We’ll look into their records, and we want to help you find her.”

I nodded as thanks. I could do with all the help I could get.

We all got into the cars and drove away. I couldn’t believe I’d be working alongside the two top Australian Mafia bosses to get Tiara back. I couldn’t work out for the life of me why Shaun would torture his best friend, but when we found him I was sure to find out. And this other guy Deeks, what had he done apart from being close to Tiara? Guess the truth will come out eventually.
