The door opened to a beautiful two story house. I took off my shoes in the entryway, moving past the living room to the to the kitchen. I saw the one and only Elijah searching through the fridge for something. “Hey, can you grab me a beer while you’re in there, I really need a drink.”
He jumped, turning around surprised, clutching his non-existent pearls. “Girl, you can’t sneak up on someone like that. You could give someone a heart attack.” Even though he scolded me, he still went back in the fridge to grab me one anyway. I reached out to grab it, but he didn’t let go. “You going to tell me what’s wrong? Because I am not letting this go without you dishing. My last exam was yesterday, and I am already running low on gossip fumes.” His blue eyes shone with excitement.
I couldn’t help my laugh, “Sure, lets just wait so we can pick a place they can’t over here us.” We shared a knowing look. He finally released my drink to me when they walked into the kitchen. This is definitely one of those situations where the saying ‘speak of the devil and he shall appear’ applies, except two in this case.
We were all chattering while making our plates. Elijah and I pretended to be indecisive, to not look suspicious while trying to see which room they would end up in. El and Blaine made their way out of the kitchen, back towards the living room, going up the stairs where all the rooms were. To say I was a little upset would be a lie.
Elijah gave my shoulder a squeeze. “Come on, let’s go outside. Everyone else is downstairs. We will have privacy for our one on one chat. I’ll text the girlies to eat without us and that we will catch up later.”
We grabbed our plates as we migrated to the backyard porch, where there was a nice pink and white floral furniture set. We settled into the swinging couch where I poured my heart out over pizza and beer.
Elijah listened intently the whole time, “So, let me get this straight. You never told El that you had a crush on our designated hottest otaku? Girl, why? She would have understood. And now its too late because they are probably up there banging as we speak, not to mention we are all going off to college soon.” He said before stuffing another piece of pizza in his mouth.
“Gee, you really know how to pick up a girls spirits.” The sarcasm heavy in my voice. He just shrugged, not being able to say something due to his mouth being full, so I continued. “ Listen, you know why I didn’t tell her. I didn’t want her thinking that she had to protect me from getting my feelings hurt.”
He nodded his head while putting his finger up, signaling me to give him a minute, downing his beer. “Ahhh, that was satisfying.” He let out a burp. “ Yeah, you’re right she does do that a lot, doesn’t she?” I nodded my head. “Well damn eh. There goes my dream.”
I looked at him, raising an eyebrow. “Oh, what would that be?” I asked while falling suit, chugging my own down.
“Having a threesome with you and Blaine.” I coughed, choking on my drink. He busted out laughing, padding my back to help stop me from choking.
Cough, “That’s so,” cough, “Unexpected.” I managed to say.
“Girl I made swing both was, but I am only teasing you. You need to lighten up. I can only handle one person at a time. We both know this. “ I knew he liked Blaine and didn’t see me that way, which is what made his joke so shocking .
I had to admit he knew how to lighten the mood and make a person feel better. We gathered our trash. “Well, maybe you should go ask if you could join them. I mean, she is your next best option, being my twin and all. We could actually become in-laws if you marry her,” I winked. “Then Blaine can be everybody’s eye candy. “
“Well, maybe I should go ask them right now. Do you think they will allow me to third wheel with them?” He kept the joke going.
“You know I did read somewhere three wheels are sturdier than two.”
We walked into the kitchen to find Blaine and El in the kitchen. Elijah and I looked at each other, bursting out laughing until tears came our eyes.
We finally caught our breaths enough to throw out our trash. “What was so funny that you guys were laughing so hard?” Blaine asked us.
“Yeah, Elijah, don’t you have something to ask them?” I said
He turned beet red in embarrassment, “Nope, not that I’m aware of.” He ran his hand through his red tresses.
“Are you sure? Didn’t you want to know something about three wheels? Hey, isn’t there a type of vehicle with three wheels? You know El is – “ I didn’t get the chance to finish my sentence before Elijah dove at me. I ran downstairs towards the protection of our girlfriends while he gave chase to keep me quiet. Fits of more giggles could be heard from the both of us the whole time. I saw Lauren’s long blonde hair first and quickly put her between us. “Please, help me from this lunatic. He is mad, I tell you, mad.”
“Oh no, no, no, no. I am not getting involved in your guys’ shenanigans.” Lauren said while moving away from us. “You are on your own.”
I was able to dramatically gasp out the word traitor before he was tickling me. I held out as long as I could but eventually surrendered.
We calmed down enough after a few minutes to dance in our group of 6. Lauren, Katie, Michie, Bevy, Elijah, and I.
