Late Tuesday Afternoon, June 7th
LIZ LOOKED AROUND, watching for Jessica to arrive.
About fifteen minutes before the players normally left the playhouse to hit the streets and work the crowd, she walked in.
Liz noticed she’d done her own makeup. She grabbed her costume off the rack without looking at Liz or anyone else and hustled into one of the little dressing stalls.
Liz sat and waited until she was the only one left in costuming and makeup then she went over to the stall Jess was in and tapped on the door. Jess didn’t respond.
“It’s me.”
Inside, Jess rolled her eyes then shook her head in disgust with herself. She was acting like a schoolgirl and she’d been doing it a lot. “Yes?”
“Can we...can we talk for a minute?”
Jess shuddered with a sudden chill. She rubbed her hands along her arms even t……
