AT THE SAME TIME
AT NOAH'S POV:
The ballroom was alive with music and laughter, but all I could focus on was the woman dancing with me. I was dancing with Charlotte, but my mind kept drifting elsewhere. Her hand rested lightly on my shoulder, her other hand held in mine, but our conversation felt distant, almost meaningless.
"You're quite the dancer, Charlotte." I said, forcing a smile.
She grinned back, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"You don’t seem to be enjoying yourself, Noah. Is something on your mind?" Her voice was teasing, but she knew me well enough to sense I wasn’t fully present.
I glanced around the ballroom, trying to shake off the feeling gnawing at me. The lights, the music, the elegance of the evening should have been perfect. But as I turned back to Charlotte, something shi……
