We're as still as rocks, under the bushes. Nathan removes my hand from his mouth, shaking his head in a mute question and I put my index finger on my mouth, telling him to shut up. I peek over to see, and he looks over my shoulder. They're far, but not enough to let us run away. I close my eyes for a moment, regulating my breath and I take Nathan's hand in mine.
"We have to get out of here." I whisper in his ear and he nods, looking around for a safe way to do it. Unfortunately there's only a trail that we can follow, the same from where those men came up.
"There's no way out Kate, unless you want to walk right in front of them." I squeeze his hands, trying to calm him down and I rest my forehead on his.
"I'm trained for situations like this. Don't leave my hand and follow me." He frowns and looks at me confused. Maybe I should have chosen different words, crap.
"What do you mean trained?" I ignore the question and start to move out the bush but he pulls me back, looking deeply in my eyes and I roll mine. Jesus! He wants to know right now? I pick my word carefully, the last thing I want it's him digging up my lies.
"My father.. he's obsessed with self defense and all that s**t. But now it's not the time. Follow me and don't make any noises." He nods in response but doesn't seems convinced. Luckily he shuts up and follows me, leaving the bush. We crawl behind the trees while Lewis and the other man are looking in the opposite direction. Perfect. I check the phone, still no signal. s**t. They could turn to us at any moment.
"How well do you do at running?" I whisper at Nathan, still keeping an eye on the two.
"Pretty good, why?" I smile at him and take off my heels and I hang then on my wrist.
"We'll come back tomorrow for the car. If we take it now, they will hear us. Are you ready?" With the free hand I take his in mine and place a soft kiss on his lips.
"Run Nathan, and don't look back." I drag him out from behind the trees and we take off running. As fast as we can, far from Lewis and our date. We're running side by side, he is as fast as me, good thing. We get out of the woods and in the street. I glance back for a moment and I don't see sign of them, perfect. Not looking at the street my feet lands in a hole on the ground and I trip down, opening a cut on my knee.
"Oh come on! f**k!" I try to get up but when I bend my leg, the cut opens even more, a red trail runs down to my feet.
"You ok Katie? Let me help you." Nathans comes back to me, helping me up but when he leaves my arms and I try to stand, my left ankle can't hold my weight and I lose balance. He catches me before I fall and I look down at my ankle. Oh f**k it.
"s**t. I think I twisted my ankle." He gets on his knee and scans my leg, cleaning the cut with a napkin.
"I'll carry you." He's about to pick my up but I her voices in the distance. I look around panicking and I glance at a little alley to out right.
"We would be too slow. Get in there." I push him to the side, against the brick wall, behind and abandoned truck. I grab my phone.
"Come on.. pick that damn phone up.."
*Meanwhile.*
MARCUS POV
As the movie ends I close the laptop in from of us and look down at Maddie, asleep on my lap. I don't want to wake her up and as I stroke her hair she smiles in her sleep. God she's so beautiful. I glance at my watch: it's already midnight, Katherine and Nathan should be already here. Where are they? I start to worry and my sudden movement wakes up Maddie.
"Oh.. sorry Marcus. I didn't mean to fall asleep." She sits up and looks around confused, still half asleep, rubbing her eyes.
"It was a pleasure. I had the chance to admire you." She stops and blushes, looking at me with her blue eyes open wide. I lean over to kiss her soft lips that taste like heaven. She runs her fingers through my hair and I hug her tight.
BEEB BEEB
It's my phone. I break the kiss, frowning at my phone. It's Kate.
"Katie? You're late." I hear a heavy breathing thru the phone. What the hell?
"M-Marcus.." Katherine is out of breath, I jump up from the bed and Maddie follow me, bringing her ear against my phone to hear.
"Kate?? What's going on?! Are you ok??" Oh no, I knew it. I f*****g knew that this was not a good idea.
"Shut up Marcus and listen to me. There were two men on the hill, we ran away but I fell and twist my ankle. You have to pick us up, we're too slow and I don't want them to catch us."
"Yeah I'm on my way now, send me your location." Both me and Maddie are in the car in a matter of seconds, driving like crazy. My mind runs wild and she places her hand on my leg, trying to comfort me.
KATHERINE POV
We're flat on the wall, between a dumpster and the truck. Nathan is holding me up, and I rest my head on his shoulder, sighing.
"What a beautiful way to end a date uh?" The sarcasm comes to the surface, I can ruin literally everything.
"As long as I'm with you, I'm good." He put his hand under my chin, raising my face and lightly kissing my lips.
"But why you insisted to hide?" I try to hide the panic, searching for the better excuse.
"We were alone.. and they didn't seem exactly friendly. We could have been in danger." He mumbles something but he nods and smile at me. Thank God he believed me. I feel bad for lying, but it's necessary. We hear again those voices. I pull him closer to me, against the wall and we both put our hand on each other mouth.
"We will deal with this s**t tomorrow." The voices die in the distance as they go away from us. I look up at Nathan and we slowly take off our hands from our faces. We're so close that I can feel his breath on my skin. I linger with my fingers on his chin and he does the same, caressing my neck. Again, we get lost in each other eyes.
"Katherine.." I grab his shirt, stopping him mid-sentence, grinding my teeth.
"Shut up and kiss me." I don't have to say it twice. He grabs me by my hips, blocking me against the wall, and I wrap my arms and legs around his muscular body. All the adrenaline turns into passion. He leaves my mouth making his way with his lips down on my neck while he grabs my ass, squeezing it. I tilt my head to give him more access then I scratch his back with my nails moaning softly. He responds with a angry groan, returning to kiss me, even more harder. Nathan blocks my head with his hands, taking all I have to give. There's no room between our bodies. He's getting excited, pushing his hips between my legs and I smile against his mouth.
"Jesus Katherine. I want you so bad" Nathan looks deeply into my eyes, and I lose any type of control over myself.
"Oh me too. You have no idea." I pull him to me once again, running my fingers thru his fawn hair and he holds his hand on my neck, keeping me still.
A sudden cough gets up separate immediatly and we look at the street. Maddie and Marcus are standing there. Crap.
"I think you'll have to wait a little bit longer." Marcus talks trying not to laugh, staring at us and I look up at Nathan, his face flushed. I smile at our situation.
"Always ruining the fun parts Marcus." I glare at him, noticing just now that his shirt is al wrinkled and Maddie's hair are messy.
"I could say the same thing to you Katie." Her sweet voice saying such a comment makes my jaw drops.
"What?! No wait, I don't wanna know!" I cover my eyes with my hands, the scene of them making out or worse haunts my mind. All three of them start to laugh at my reaction I peek between my fingers.
"Come on, let's get you two home." Marcus and Nathan help me one on each side and we go back home.
*Home.*
"So? You're gonna tell me now?" We're in my bathroom, Marcus in cleaning my wounds. Beside the knee, I have cuts and splinters under my feet cause I couldn't run with heels. I'm sitting on the edge of the tub, trying not to scream from the burning sensation of the disinfectant.
"Are you sure it was them?" I told him about Lewis, this could have been a huge mess.
"Absolutely. They were the same men at Malia's club that night. But I couldn't hear what they were looking for." Marcus glances at me before returning to fixing the bandage on my ankle.
"What matters is that they didn't caught you two." At his words reality slaps me in the face. I stare blankly for a couple of seconds, putting the pieces together.
"They could have hurt him because of me." I can hardly say that phrase, that comes out just like a whisper.
"What do you mean?" Marcus tilts his head, looking confused at me.
"Me being me. I'm the heir. He could have been hurt. And it would be all my fault." I start to talk way too fast, incapable to catch my breath.
"Hey you don't know that ok? It didn't happen so stop it. It's the risk of our lifestyle, you can't change it. But you can accept it and go on. Be careful and it won't happen again." He drops everything and cups my face in his hands, forcing me to look at him. His hazel eyes radiate determination and confidence, and calm me down a little.
"Ok.. thank you for taking care of me. In every way possible" He smiles at me and places a kiss on my forehead before returning to the medications.
I launch myself on the bed finally relaxing from the crazy night. The date, his kisses.. it was perfect. But that motherfucker of Lewis shouldn't have been there. He's surely is on my black list now.

I lay peacefully in my bed for a moment, a stupid smile on my face. I won't let those men ruin my memories of this night. So I let my mind wonder, closing my eyes curling up in the bed. I let his sweet black eyes lull me to sleep.
*The next morning.*
I open my eyes at the crack of dawn. When I turn under the sheets all my body aches in pain. I sit on the edge and test my ankle, thankfully is doing much better. I take a few steps, it's still hurting but at least I can walk. I get in the shower to wake myself up before going down in the kitchen. The only thought of breakfast makes my stomach growl.
I step in the kitchen minding my business, reaching the coffee as fast as I can.
"Katherine" Holy f**k! I jump back, my heart beats loud in my ears. I totally didn't see my dad, sitting at the counter.
"Jesus, dad. You scared the crap out of me" I take a deep breath and smile at him, turning around to take my coffee.
"Marcus told me what happened last night." I stop with the mug mid-air, closing my eyes. f*****g traitor! I take deep breath before turning to face him.
"He did? Listen I.." words die in my mouth when I see my dad trying to hold back the laughter.
"How could you fall from the stairs and twist your ankle?" It takes me a moment to connect the dots.
"Oh! Yes, the stairs! I was tired dad, I didn't realize.. " I need to stop to blame Marcus all the time.
"It hurts?" He tilts his head, hiding his smile behind the mug.
"Not so much, I expected worse, no need to worry. I have to go to school now." I grab a hot pancake and round the counter, smacking a kiss on his cheek.
"Oh right. Harrison! Take Katherine to school!" I stop on the door step and I glare at my dad, he doesn't even bother to look back at me. I roll my eyes and follow Harrison to the car. He will never change.
*School.*
I spot Maddie walking through the gardens at school. I catch up with her, taking her under her arm.
"Spit it out." She startles before shaking her head and arching her brows.
"Good morning to you too Katie. And there's nothing to tell, really.." I stare at her for a moment and she blushes.
"Wekissesafewtimes.." I stop dead in my track, with a big smile on my face.
"You what?" I tease her and she blushes even more.
"I said that we kissed a few times. But relax Katherine. We wanna take it slow." I proudly nod my head and star to walk again.
"That's what I like to hear." I giggle and I look at her but Maddie is looking past me, when her jaw drops. I turn right around and see Nathan walking to us. He has a black bruise on his right cheekbone and sunglasses hiding his eyes.
