My heart begins to thump against my chest as I stare into Eros’s mesmerizing eyes. I blink a few times, to make sure that I am not dreaming. Have I heard what he said right? “You want me to be your escort for the Tournament? I mean … Me? But wait, how do you know you’re competing?” I start asking in confusion. He slightly raises his eyebrows at my flood of questions, but still opens his mouth to answer me.
“Well, there was a scroll at my door this morning. They always message us like that, so the competitors are a bit of a mystery,” he explains, then scratches the back of his neck, so I can see his triceps flexing. And it doesn’t leave me indifferent. “So, what do you say?”
