Telling Jokes, Telling Truths

What do you think of sarcastic Characters/People? Do you find a little back and forth teasing as endearing or annoying? Sometimes writing Shepard is tricky. I want him to be likable but also kind of a jerk. Balancing that can be hard because what I might think is funny but still a little insulting other people light just find as insulting. He’s a lot more complex, trying to express everything without giving too much away about his character can also be tricky as well. What are your thoughts on him?
