The air in the room literally hummed. Axel’s fingers still hovered dangerously close to the waistband of Ivy’s jeans, his breath fanning her skin. His lips were inches from hers, so close she could almost taste the wickedness in his smirk.
Ivy’s heart pounded so hard she was sure he could hear it. Every rational thought screamed at her to push him away, to scream, to run…but her body did not listen.
Her lips parted.Her breath hitched.
She hated herself.
She hated how her eyes drifted shut, just for a second…just one treacherous second.
And then…
BANG. BANG. BANG.
The door shook with the force of the pounding.
Ivy jumped like she had been shot, jerking back against the mattress with a sharp gasp…all those butterflies squashed in her stomach and smashed.
