"Do you have a boyfriend, Nyra?" The middle-aged woman asked with a sweet smile. Her eyes shone with interest. Nyra's eyes widened in surprise. Why would a customer ask her that? Nana Linda looked up from the cash register, giving a pointed look at the customer.
"No, I don't have a boyfriend." Nyra handed her the wrapped flowers and chuckled. The middle-aged woman was an old customer, which meant she was an acquaintance. They often made small talk whenever she came to get flowers.
"That's great! My nephew is visiting this weekend! Would you like to go on a blind date?!" The woman was so excited that she forgot to hold the flowers. The bunch fell on the counter, which flattened a few petals. Nyra watched the flowers go down and sighed in her heart.
