“What is the truth? I don’t understand you.”

“That he is getting married. I just heard from my boy…I mean, my friend told me that Lake has found a new Luna.”

“Yes, he has found a new Luna.” He confirmed. “Is anything the matter?” He questioned.

“What is this? Why is everyone forcing him to get married? He’s a grown ass Alpha…”

“And the leader of the pack, Aurora,” Alpha Killian finished as he stepped forward to me. “Lake is an Alpha and can get married however he likes.”

“But he is not interested in getting married. You guys are the ones pushing him into this marriage stuff. He is living fine and enjoying his best life. Why do you want to cage him?”

“Enjoying his best life?” He scoffed with a chuckle. “What do you know? You are just a kid.”

“What!”

“No one is caging him, Aurora. Stop acting like a kid and besides, you know nothing about marriage, so don’t speak of it.”

‘I shouldn’t speak of it?’

“Yes, you should be the one happy Lake had found someone to be his companion. He will need a Luna by his side. You don’t expect him to die at old age, do you? He’s a man who stayed single for years just to take care of your ass. He sacrificed everything to raise you so you can have a proper life. Now, you’ve grown up. Shouldn’t you be happy for him instead of stopping him from being happy? Do you know how it feels to be alone for years because of you? Celebrate him, advise him to get married, and not stop him. It seems to me like you are selfish.”

“I’m not selfish.”

“Then let him get married. Allow him to enjoy his life, Aurora. Do not throw tantrums at him and persuade him to give up this marriage because I will be so furious at you if such a thing should happen.” He explained with a smirk.

“What are you trying to say to me? Are you trying to say I’m the reason he doesn’t want to get married, Alpha Killian? Lake has been with me for years. He always wanted only me and no one else because you guys and the clan are forcing him to get married. That’s why he changed his mind.”

“Aurora, you know nothing about the clan but yourself. You don’t know Lake so well, so I will assume you are still a child, but don’t do something stupid because you don’t want him to move on. Let him be with the one who he loves and who loves him. Someday you are going to find your mate and you will leave him. You don’t always get things your way, that’s not how life goes. He raised and spoiled you so much, you became so self-centered and forgot humanity. I feel so sorry for you. Don’t be selfish,” he scoffed again and walked out on me.

What was up with him? Why the hell is he mad at me? I clenched my fist with my eyes welling up. I don’t mean to act selfish, but we’ve always been together for years and why does he have to go when he has me?

I don’t get it. We are always together and why does he have to bring another woman in where we make our home? That day, I waited at the dining table since he wasn’t around at the time and waited for him to come back. I knew he was working and would be home late again.

Alpha Killian is Lake’s best friend and why he talked to me in such a manner is what I’m trying so hard to understand.

He never liked me since I was a child anyway. I waited and looked at the white wall designed clock and it was 12 midnight. I was feeling quite sleepy, but I didn’t want to go to bed yet. I was light asleep when I heard the door opening. I jerked my head up from the table and looked.

It was just six in the morning and my back, my neck, was killing me as I got up from the chair and walked over to him.

“Aurora.” He dropped his stuff and began taking off his black suit. “What is it and why are you up by this time? Are you alright?” He asked with concern and so much worry.

“Don’t act as if you don’t know why I am up by this time of the day.” I snapped as I bit my lower lip from yelling at him. “You broke your promise, Lake. I heard you are getting married. I thought you said you weren’t interested in getting a Luna anymore. Why are you getting married and…” He came over to me and held my shoulders with a calm demeanor.

“Aurora, I’m sorry but I have to get married, baby.” As soon as he uttered those words, my heart shattered.

“Without me?” I whispered with my eyes welling up but I didn’t want it to drip down my eyes.

I didn’t want him to see me cry when I’m not a baby anymore. I’m tired of trying to act cool at this moment but this is so painful. Is he abandoning me?

“This is my responsibility, Aurora.”

“I don’t give a damn about any responsibility. You failed your promise, and that’s all that matters. You don’t want me anymore just say it.”

“I’m getting married doesn’t mean you are not important to me anymore. Stop thinking about such things. Have some faith in me. We are still going to be as we were before and go on vacations and all, no one is stopping that from you. If that is what you are worried about, don’t think about it. Nothing is changing, we are going to be the same. Stop trying to figure out something which doesn’t exist.”

“But I still don’t want you to get married.” I argued.

“Aurora, it’s my responsibility, listen to me.”

“I don’t give a damn about any responsibility. You can get married as long you f*****g like, I don’t give a damn anymore.” I yelled at him and kicked the vase in front of me as it shattered into pieces.

“Aurora.” He called in a furious tone.

“But just know one thing, I’m not accepting your wife or the new Luna of this pack and she will never be a mother to me because I don’t need one.” I ran off to my room as I ignored his callings.

“AURORA.”

I slammed the door to his face as he almost caught my hand when he came after me. One week later, Lake got married despite my warnings, as I cried so bitterly that night and shut the door to my room all day.

Despite the multiple calls I got, I didn’t attend his wedding at all and he didn’t deserve it.

Humph!

The next day I got up with a grumbling stomach, knowing I haven’t eaten for the past two days. I walked down the staircase holding my stomach in my white shorts with a black crop top with my n*****s perking out. I was so tired as I strolled to the fridge to fetch what I was going to eat since Mrs Jane, our cook, wasn’t available to prepare my food.
