In the pure bliss of their lovemaking, it was as if all the bad had been forgotten and everything was as perfect as always, but in the minutes afterwards, something changed. The light in Lily’s eyes had dimmed, and there was a tenseness in her that he wasn’t used to.
Finn hadn’t missed the dark circles under her eyes, and he knew what they meant– she hadn’t slept well because he hadn’t been there; because he had let her down. He also wasn’t stupid enough to think that after his apology, everything would have just gone back to normal. The puffiness and redness of Lily’s eyes would have been enough to tell him that, but their conversation as she got ready to go to school confirmed it.
“So, what happens with Emily now?” Lily asked Finn as she packed her bag for school. Her voice held the hesita……
