When I watched the kids playing in the orphanage's rear yard, I silently smiled.
In a long time, I haven't seen their happy smiles, clear chuckles, or joy when playing.
Rebecca was reading a book in front of several children in the shade. The kids sat in the cupboard, listening to Rebecca read the story.
Richard, on the other hand, was escorted by a group of young boys. They were playing with wooden swords.
I wished I could join in the fun, but I was unable to do so. I merely stood close to Rebecca, keeping an eye out for any potential threat.
As I stood there, Anna approached the girl who introduced me as Princess Gianna.
She questioned me, "You don't want to play with us?"
"I can't play with you, Anna," I replied, smiling. ……
