Chapter 14

The Alffür and Bledray exist between the planes of

astral and earth—

ethereal and physical.

Each form adds to our experience of Life.

Each form is equally valuable and, before the h*******t,

was equally lived.

Survival depended on solidity.

We needed to anchor ourselves more fully to the earth;

tie ourselves to the Rydri in ways we had not done before.

We entered their communities and kept our secrets.

Moving on when the need came as we are long-lives.

Protecting and subtly guiding where we could.

We had no wish to take over,

no desire to lead.
