Sophia:
A silence had fallen over us after my confession about Elias.
I had half expected an awkward silence, but it was more relaxed and comfortable than I expected. Knowing that they knew now meant I had to tell Logan, too, and tell them all three who the father was.
“We have two days left until we hit the road. Do you think Logan will be ready by then?” I asked them both, watching Toby make breakfast and Wit plucking his bass.
“We can only hope.” Toby looked in my direction; his eyes were hard, his jaw ticking from how his jaw clamped down tightly.
“What?” I asked with my heart leaping into my throat.
The tension that replaced that comfortable silence was suffocating.
Slowly, Toby put the wooden spoon down and turned to face me, wiping his hands on the dish towel slung over his shoulder.
