Carolyn offered to have Ralph escort me back to the packhouse, but I declined, telling her that I just wanted to be alone. I’m really, truly alone now though. My wolf is being held back. I didn’t expect to feel so empty, but I do, and it hurts.
I realize about halfway through my walk that I’m pretty unprotected, walking home without my wolf and I try to speed up just a little bit. I don't move as quickly as I'd like. My back hurts really badly, as do my knees and, well, all my joints, really. It’s less pain than my first shift, but it’s still there.
I make my way inside the packhouse, trying my best not to look at anyone as I climb up the stairs. I arrive at my room without having to speak to another person but as I go to open the door, the door to David’s room opens.
