AURORA'S POV:
My breath gets stuck in my throat as I suddenly struggle to breathe.
"Wha-what do you mean?" My voice comes out more shaky than I would have liked it to be.
"It would be nice to finally drink some human blood after twenty eight years, don't you think? I'm quite tired of that stale animal blood." His smile turns sinister and his white fangs suddenly look more pointy.
This is not the way I envisioned myself dying at all. This is so not it.
"Please...please, don't kill me. You are not even supposed to kill your mate, are you?"
"Hmmm... I do like it when you beg... Moreover, you do have a point. I can't kill my mate but I can definitely mark her as mine and mine alone."
"Mark me how? I am not about to become some vampire's wife. I'm just a girl."
He stares at me for some seconds, expressionless before bursting into laughter.
I raise my eyebrow in confusion. What is making him laugh? I'm here worried and terrified to my core about loosing my life and here he is, laughing.
"What is so funny? We are trapped in here because of a goddamn door. My phone is dead. I just found out that someone that probably hates me is a vampire, I'm trapped with him by the way. He wants to suck my blood and-"
My rambling is cut off by the feel of lips on my cheek. He raises his head back up to face me and stares into my eyes.
"What was that for?" I ask him, a surprised gasp leaving my lips.
He shrugs in response with a cheeky smile. I feel my cheeks beginning to feel hot. I cough and turn my face away.
"I'm just teasing you. I'm not going to do anything to you. Calm down."
I have a sigh of relief at his words. My eyes cannot bring itself to stop looking at his fangs. I feel scared and intrigued by then at the same time.
"Can you please..." I point at his face. He looks confused for a moment before it finally clicks. "Oh..."
"I can't get it to go back inside right now."
"Why?"
"I'm hungry. I forgot to drink some blood before practice today and I left it in my car."
"Ok... That's bad. So what do we do now? The door is jammed shut and anyone coming in here would expose your true identity." I really feel stuck right now. I don't know why I even care. I should only be searching for a way to get out of this locker room.
"I could use my strength to destroy the lock and let us out but that would mean that I would immediately be exposed to any human that passes by us."
"Yes... that's true. Except you use your hand to cover your mouth."
"Uhh... Are you seeing how big of a situation this is? This low key feels like I'm trying to hide a boner situation." His face scrunches up.
I burst out in laughter at his analogy.
"Yeah, it's definitely a big situation. But we still need to get out of here so it's worth a shot. You can just put a top or scarf over your head till we get to your car."
"But where will I get a scarf? A top is going to look hella weird." He lets out a frustrated sigh.
"Hold on... I have a scarf in my bag. It's your lucky day and MY unlucky day." I make sure to place emphasis on the "my"
"Oh, come one. It's not that bad. You are not vampire food. At least, not yet." He gives me a cheeky ass smile.
Did he just say "not yet"? I am terribly done with this day. I knew I shouldn't have come to the gym. I blame this all on Cali. Speaking of Cali, why has she not come looking for me yet?
I don't respond to him. Instead, I open up my bag and start searching for the scarf. I find it at the bottom of my bag and drag it out.
I stretch it towards him and he wraps it over his head. Enough to cover his mouth and show only his eyes. When I'm sure that he looks as normal as one can get, I give him a thumbs up.
"Thank you, Aurora." He said, his eyes softening.
"You are welcome, little vamp."
"Little vamp?" He asks with his eyebrows shooting up.
"Yup, your new nickname." He chuckles in response.
"Okay, enough of the chatter. Break open that door. " I told him with a stoic face. His expression suddenly hardens and he turn towards the door.
With a deep breath out and his hand on the door, he drags the handle forcefully and he holds it in his hands.
"Woah," I let out a gasp in surprise.
He turns towards me with the door handle in his hand.
"You really did it." I said with my eyes widened in shock.
"Yes. Let's go now" He tells me with a sense of urgency in his voice. It is at this point that I realize that his eyes look tired. It must be the lack of sleep. I nod in agreement and step forward to finish the job.
Putting my fingers in between the space of the door and two fingers inside the space the handle used to be, I pull it open.
"Voila!" I exclaim as the door opens widely. We look at each other with a victorious smile on our lips.
"We make a pretty good team, don't you think?" He asks me.
"Yes, definitely." I push my head outside the door and look around for any incoming figure.
"Everywhere clear?" His voice comes out muffled.
After looking for a while with no sign of movement, I turn back to face him.
"We are in the clear. Just stay near me. The car park isn't too far off. If we stay off familiar faces, we should be fine."
"Yeah. That sounds okay." He takes my hand in his and I feel that strange but familiar sensation in my hand again but this time, I embrace it. The coldness in his hands weirdly feel welcoming to mine...
"Let's go." As we step out into the corridor, I hope deep down that we are able to get to the car park without any extra hurdles. I desperately want to sleep.
Few minutes later, we are already few feet away from his car when a voice makes us stop in our tracks.
"Rory? I've been looking for you everywhere!"
