As I held Dani close, something clicked in my chest. The weight of everything—the contract, my mom's relentless planning, the confusion and whirlwind of it all—felt a little less heavy when I was with her. I'd spent so much time trying to guard my heart and keep a distance, but now I realized that maybe I didn't want to protect myself from her anymore. I didn't want to keep running from what felt like it could be real between us.
"Three days…" I murmured, almost more to myself than to her. My mind raced with all the plans my mom had already set in motion. The wedding announcement, the dress fittings, the photographer—everything happening so fast. But here we were, standing in the eye of the storm, and yet it felt almost… calm.
Dani pulled back just enough to look up at me……
