The sound of rushing water filled the bathroom as steam curled into the air, clinging to the mirrors and blurring the edges of reality. Mike let the hot spray cascade down his back, his muscles tensed as he tried to let go of the thoughts swirling in his mind. Last night still haunted him—the way Karen had teased him, the way he had barely managed to keep his restraint. But today was a new day, and he was determined to keep his distance.
Then, the bathroom door creaked.
He barely noticed at first, too lost in the rhythm of the water drumming against the tiles. It wasn’t until the air shifted—the faintest whisper of movement—that he turned slightly, catching sight of a shadow through the frosted glass of the shower door.
His breath hitched. “Diana?” he called out, voice laced with uncertainty.
No response.
And then, the shower door cracked open just enough for a hand to slip through, holding a towel. A soft, familiar giggle followed.
His entire body stiffened. He didn’t need to turn around to know who it was.
“Karen,” he whispered harshly, voice low so it wouldn’t carry beyond the bathroom. “Get out.”
Instead of obeying, Karen let the towel drop to the floor. The steam parted just enough for him to catch the silhouette of her bare form. She stepped closer, the warmth of the water mixing with the heat radiating off her body. He swallowed hard, his hands clenching into fists against the tiled wall.
“You’re excited to see me,” she teased, her voice like silk, eyes flickering downward.
Mike closed his eyes for a moment, willing himself to stay in control. “Leave. Now.”
Karen only smirked, but before she could say another word, a voice rang out from the hallway.
“Mike?”
Diana.
Karen’s eyes widened for a fraction of a second before she moved, slipping behind the shower curtain in a flash, pressing herself against the wall just out of sight. Mike barely had time to gather himself before the bathroom door creaked open wider, and Diana stepped in, peering curiously inside.
“I thought I heard something,” she said, frowning. “Did you call me?”
Mike shook his head quickly, forcing a calm expression. “No. Just the water.”
Diana’s gaze lowered, and her lips curled in a knowing smirk when she noticed the obvious tension in his body. “Oh… but it looks like you’re all worked up.” She bit her lip, stepping closer to the glass door. “Mind if I join you?”
Panic surged through him. If Diana stepped in now, she’d see Karen—naked and hiding in the shadows. His mind raced for an excuse.
“Not now,” he said quickly, forcing out a chuckle. “I just—uh—want to finish up first. Give me a few minutes.”
Diana raised an eyebrow, looking mildly surprised at his refusal. But after a moment, she sighed. “Alright. I’ll wait for you in bed then.”
She leaned in, placing a quick kiss on the glass, then turned and walked out, closing the door behind her.
Mike exhaled sharply, every muscle in his body still locked in place. The moment Diana’s footsteps faded, Karen moved. She slipped from her hiding spot, her expression triumphant.
“Well, that was close,” she murmured, stepping past him, her fingers grazing his arm. “You should really learn to relax, Mike.”
His jaw clenched as he watched her reach for the towel, wrapping it lazily around herself. She turned at the doorway, giving him one last lingering glance, her hips swaying as she walked away, disappearing into the hall.
Mike remained under the water, gripping the edges of the shower, his breath coming fast and shallow.
This was spiraling out of control.
And the worst part?
A part of him wasn’t sure he wanted it to stop.
