Chapter Twenty

I made it back by final whistle, but I was the last one to trudge through the gates of the compound. This didn't set off suspicion since I had the most ground to cover last night furthest from the compound. 

The steel gates shut behind me and I try to suppress a shudder as my father comes into view. Krista, Cullen, and Trace are all there. Waiting for me. 

I have to tell them about the rogue. But how? I had come across a few tracks outside of my designated area this morning when walking back from Leon's- they were fresh, most likely from the rogue I shot last night, so bringing that up may raise suspicion about where I was last night. 

But do I have a choice? I would be putting the town, my people in danger. 

I approach sullenly. Think, Hanna.
