Wolf stopped when he heard a loud popping sound followed by a loud yelp that he immediately recognized as coming from Shadow. That popping sound had came from a g*n. It didn't sound anything like a big blast, but it was a g*n just the same. Wolf had the presence of mind to not follow Shadow any further. Instead he crouched down to think about the situation.
Red was in deep trouble and needed his help. There were at least two men involved. He had to help her now, but how? Shadow had been hurt, possibly shot. He needed more information. He eased up the path where Red had been dragged until he heard the voices of two men loudly arguing. From there Wolf went to the left into a copse of trees. He pulled three arrows from his quiver. Holding two in his left hand with the bow, he fitted the third ……
