Doctor Regas watched Brice like someone might watch a struggling creature, one that didn’t warrant help. There wasn’t any malice in his expression, but nor was there empathy. To the doctor, Brice was simply a subject.
<Doctor, I’m…I’m uncomfortable.> Lynet’s private suss wavered in Brice’s mind. She stepped round, away from his head. Like she didn’t want to be near him. Like he was infected.
<That is understandable. I believe I made it clear that this case was unique.>
<But I can hardly believe what just happened. How can he do that?>
Doctor Regas tilted his head, still watching Brice.
