Carter felt Lucas' arms wrap around her from behind but she didn't look at him. His touch made her want to melt but she forced herself to focus on the world in front of her. His warm breath grazed the back of her neck causing her to shiver but she still didn't face him.
“Carter, you need to relax.” He whispered. “It's only been a few days.” But Carter knew that Lucas was feeling the same nervousness she was. Just because time had passed, that didn't make things better. More rogues were showing up at the borders of the territory, patrol had been doubled. More people from the pack had sightings of Carter's mother here and there, making many people nervous. And yet, no one had made a move. The rogues didn't attack. No one did. It meant they were planning something.
