Sarah tried her best to retain her composure, but a couple of people near her noticed the shift in her mood.
“If she were wearing gloves at the time, there wouldn’t be any fingerprints,” Sarah offered, trying to keep her voice neutral.
Leo sent a glare her way, the kind that threatened bodily harm, and Sarah went quiet.
“Officer Cooper, you can see that Rena isn’t wearing any gloves now,” Adam cut in. “And I assume you searched her bag, so did you find any gloves in it?”
“There was none,” the female officer replied.
Rena felt her hand being squeezed and found that Leo was holding it. To her, the gesture felt protective. She had a pretty good idea of what others thought about them being together, but now it was “rich businessman and a cash-strapped thief” ……
