Elizabeth opens her eyes and turns over to see the cave empty aside for herself. Panic grips
her immediately and she runs out of the cave.
She sees her mom standing by Felicity, stroking her head. She falls on her knees breathing
hard. As she watched them.
"You thought I had left you." her mother said as she turned to face her smiling.
Elizabeth could only nod gently without saying anything. Covering the distance between them,
she produced a pendant and put it around her neck.
"Make sure you have this on you at all times. It would protect you from the humans. They would
think you are one of them."
"Ok." She said hugging her mother tight "But I don't need it, I have you. You are here to protect
me."
Martha laughs softly stroking her daughter's hair gently. A roar rippled through the air and
Felicity began to struggle with the rope that secured her to a tree.
"Beth, they've found us." She said with her eyes closed and her face against the ground. "You
are leaving without me."
Without another word, she puts her on top of the horse and secures her tightly on it with a rope
that makes it impossible for her to jump down or even fall off.
"I love you, my daughter."
"I love you too Mom," Elizabeth replied. Her mother rubs Felicity on the head gently.
"Take care of my baby." Surprisingly, the horse nods in understanding it takes off running in the
other direction. While Martha turned to face the war coming to her.
Just as Felicity disappears into the thick forest behind her, five huge wolves come out from the
forest heading towards her at top speed. Unlike normal wolves, these were huge. They
measured about six feet above the ground and they moved in union heading towards Martha
who stood on the Plain field outside the cave waiting for them patiently.
A few seconds later, they surrounded her snarling and growling as they moved around her in
circles.
"Show yourself," Martha says calmly as she stands without moving.
The wolves stopped moving and one of them stepped forward it transformed slowly into a
dark-haired woman slightly younger than Martha.
The woman produces a garment from a bag one of the other wolves carries on its waist and
drapes it around her body.
They stood staring at each other while the other wolves stood motionless watching the
exchange carefully.
"When would your greed ever end?" Martha said shaking her head as she did.
"You call this greed." The woman replied grinning wickedly. "The desire to be the best,
independent and free from every atom of control our enemies have over us cannot be called
greed."
"You do not desire independence, you just want power. And yet even with all you schemes and
plots, you have still failed to get that which you sought for so…."
"How have I failed?" She says cutting her off. She spread her hands around "Look around you
Martha, you are the last of your kin. You all thought by running away you could deny us of that
which is rightfully ours but you have failed."
"Well, I'm still standing here, am, I not," Martha says removing her robe so she was standing
there with nothing but the light innerwear she had on.
The woman laughs long and hard before she answers her.
"What do you want to do? fight us. Don't be stupid. The Moon Day festival lasts for three days.
You have no powers until it is over. If you surrender yourself calmly I promise to give you a quick
death but if you don't, I can assure you that I'll end your life in the worst possible way known to
man."
"I would like to see you try," Martha said as she crouched down in a defensive position.
The woman's face because clouded with anger as she took some steps back away from her.
"Bring her to me on her knees she said folding her hands."
The wolf behind her pounced on her. But surprisingly before it could bring her to the ground, she
spins away from the position she was standing in. Her movements are so fast that she appears
to be a blur for a moment.
She locks both hands on the neck of the wolf that had attacked her from behind and ripped its
throat out. Blood filled the floor around them as the huge beast hit the floor and transformed into
a man jerking on the floor blood continuously gushing out from his neck.
A few seconds later the man became motionless and the other wolves stepped backward
snarling and growling loudly.
"This is impossible." The woman screamed as she held onto the dead man on the floor. It was
clear that he had been very dear to her.
"The moon day only lasts a day," she says as she stands covered with blood. Her nails now
elongated into sharp claws, and her eyes now a shiny silver color.
She points at the dead man in her arms and snarls at her "A lover for a lover. Know now that all
your efforts have been in vain you shall never get what you want."
"Never," the woman screams and then bites the dead man on the arm. The other wolves move backward in shock as they all watch her drain the blood out of the man.
"What are you doing?" Martha says taking a step back away from her too. "What have you done
to yourself?"
The woman stops and stands to her feet the dead man now as white as snow lies on the floor
behind her.
"I am showing you what true power looks like." She says and then transforms.
Her wolf is now totally different from what it had been. it now takes on a dark grey color. Its size towering above the restof them at about eight feet from the ground. She now had spikes at the hair on her tail and her claws were as thick as small
daggers.
She roars in challenge and Martha transforms into a huge white wolf nearly as big as the other
woman, and roars in response.
Their voices echo across the field. They attack each other, slashing and clawing as viciously as they can. Each trying to subdue
the other in one way or the other.
Martha appeared to be more skillful and quicker than her opponent as she slashed and clawed
her sides moving around her as fast as possible to prevent her from holding onto her. But the
other wolf seems to have not just superior strength but also a hide as thick as a rock.
The struggle stretches on each trying to outsmart the other, Martha feints an attack at her
opponent's hind leg and the moment she takes a step back, she claws her face.
The woman uses this as an opening and pounces on her bringing her to the floor. She sinks her
fangs into her neck and jecks her head in different directions breaking the bones there and just
as before the battle began the field goes silent.
The two wolves fighting in the middle are once again replaced by the two women. Martha was
on the floor bleeding and unable to move, while the other woman standing over her panting
hard.
"You…. You… have lost." Martha says before she closes her eyes in defeat a small smile on her
face.
"Noooo," the woman screams out in anger. She turns to face the other wolves around them. Her
once beautiful face now had a fresh claw mark running from the top of her face to the end.
"They are not all dead. Scattered around, find them" she screams at them "Kill them all, or all this would have been for nothing."
At once the remaining wolves all run in different directions away from her. Leaving her alone in the field.
