Chapter 5
Cheryl was still rattled from what she’d seen at the Tate house as she rode back in the car with Adam. Her mind was all over the place, and the music that was still playing in her head didn’t help much. “I can’t imagine how terrible this whole situation must be for her.” Cheryl stared out the window as they turned onto a busy street. “They must’ve been married for a long time, and now to watch him slowly decline like that… It’s heartbreaking. I feel desperately sad every time we walk into that house.”
Adam glanced over at her. “My parents were just gone one day without warning. At least they have time together before he dies.”
“Yeah, but at least you didn’t have to see your parents suffer.”
“That’s true, but I didn’t get to say goodbye either.” The muscles in his jaw tensed.
